Out of the Blue
Following a West Coast tour of America, we have been informed that Out of the Blue are currently stranded in the United States, owing to the disruption of UK air space by volcanic activity in Iceland. As a result, Out of the Blue will not be performing on the evening.
The Cutting Edge Big Band
Alec Payne’s vocals cover a range from the punchy Ain’t that a kick in the head to the more romantic More and A Nightingale Sang in Berkley Square.
Susanne Sheehy sings full-blooded versions of Sway and Come Rain or Come Shine but also a very sultry Moonglow and That Old Devil Called Love.
Tony Blincowe features on tenor sax and on clarinet in numbers ranging from the classic Artie Shaw arrangement of Begin the Beguine to his own version of Jelly Roll Morton’s Big Lip Blues, which he arranged specially for the band.
With 18 musicians the sound from this swing band should get the dance floor busy.
